Well safe to say I have been crazy busy recently, what with having three deadlines in the same week (two of which on the same day!!) But I am now finished and caught up on my sleep :)
I found some fabric and finished my dress, this was the first deadline: Here is my model looking beautiful <3
Tutors said some nice things and I was really suprised by how well the dress actually fit her, but I think all in all it went very well. It was based on 19th Century menswear which I interpreted into Navy uniforms and looked at the gold trimmings and the contrast between the heavier blue fabric and the quite feminine frills and lace that they used. I used a good quality Navy blue wool suiting fabric and a sheer cotton fabric to create that feminine/masculine contrast I had researched.
Next was my Essay, which was actually quite good, because it was about skinheads, which meant it was an excuse to watch 'This is England' - One of my favourite films. It was also a really good excuse to look at all of the clothes and i thought it was very interesting to find out how the Skinhead culture came about and why it became synonymous with Racism, yet that wasn't the intention.
Then was trend prediction, which was the reason I was up until about half 2 for a few nights. I had to predict two different trends, based on the fashions from this season and future seasons, but my trends had to be two years in the future!
The first trend went well, I thought about all the fabrics, proportions and silhouettes and the boards looked very finished. I felt the second trend was quite rushed however and I think that will let me down slightly. My tutor said basically the same thing.
I'm just so glad that it is all handed in and I can enjoy my christmas holiday. I only have my millinery sketchbook to do over Christmas which is good. Plenty of time to write on my blog and apply for about a million fashion placements :)
